This Privacy Policy explains what information GardenSwap ("we," "us," "our") collects when you use the GardenSwap mobile app, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

• Account information: the email address and password you use to sign up and sign in. If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple instead, we receive your email address (and name, if you share it) from that provider to create and secure your account.
• Profile information: your username, bio, and profile photo, if you choose to add them.
• Listing information: titles, descriptions, categories, prices, and photos you add to listings, along with a pickup address you provide, which we convert to an approximate map location.
• Messages and forum content: messages you send to other users and any topics, comments, or photos you post in the community forum.
• Photos and camera access: if you choose to add a photo, we access your photo library or camera only at the moment you use that feature, to let you select or take a picture.
• Usage information: basic information generated by using the app, such as when your account was created.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to operate the marketplace, specifically to:

• Show your listings, profile, and forum posts to other users of the app.
• Connect buyers and sellers through in-app messaging.
• Show approximate listing locations on the map.
• Maintain the security of your account and respond to support requests.
• Automatically screen listing photos and text, forum posts, message photos, and profile photos and bios for content that violates our community guidelines (such as explicit or abusive content) before it's posted, as described below.

Sharing

Your listings, username, profile photo, and forum posts are visible to other users of the app, since that's how the marketplace works. We do not sell your personal information to third parties or use it for advertising.

We use Supabase as our backend infrastructure provider to store account data, listings, messages, and uploaded photos securely. They process this data on our behalf and do not use it for their own purposes.

We use OpenAI's moderation service to automatically screen listing photos and text, forum posts, message photos, and profile photos and bios for content that violates our community guidelines, before that content is posted. This is an automated check — the content itself is not reviewed by a person unless you report it separately. OpenAI processes this content on our behalf to perform the screening and does not use it to train their models or for any other purpose.

If you sign in with Google or Apple, those companies process your sign-in according to their own privacy policies, and share basic account information (like your email address) with us as described above.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your listings, photos, messages, forum posts, profile, and login are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Your Choices

• You can update your profile information at any time from Edit Profile in the app.
• You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Account → Delete Account in the app.
• You can also request account deletion or ask questions about your data by emailing support@gardenswap.app.

Children's Privacy

GardenSwap is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
